Valuation Rolls
Organised by Parish and burgh, valuation rolls are a record of properties and ratepayers which were introduced in 1855. While they do not name every member of a household, pre-1930 valuation rolls do list the ratepayers occupation. National Archives These list proprietors, tenants and occupiers (head of family only), The National Archives for Scotland in Edinburgh holds a complete set of valuation rolls for Scotland from 1855 onwards. Carnegie Library Holds the complete County Series of Parishes and also Ayr Burgh 1906 - 1974 Dick Institute Holds Kilmarnock Burgh 1874 - 1875, 1895 - 1896, 1901 - 1902 Ayrshire Archives Holds the County Series, 1891 - 1989 (this includes all Ayrshire parishes and many burghs):
