The following information on the Family History and Historical Societies in and around Ayrshire should be useful for those considering joining or for contacting them to assist with Ayrshire Family History research. Deaths and Burials in South Ayrshire This contains a comprehensive list of all cemetery, burial, and death records in the present South Ayrshire, including the M.I.'s currently available. Also includes a variety of sources with names and addresses which may be useful to those looking for a death in Ayrshire. £2.70 +P&P.
Irvine 1820 Census Index Transcription of this is now complete and will be sold as a microfiche. This census gives heads of houses and spouces, although there are no addresses it is possible to work out the district in which the family lived.

Burials
Indexes for the following parishes are now available in Booklet format; There is a 'goldmine' of information for researchers in Galston with the release of census returns there for 1801, 1811, 1821 and 1831. Also a list of of Militia men from Galston in 1799 and 1801 and an index to names of servicemen in 1918 who wrote letters of thanks to Rev J A Hogg, Galston Church for parcels received. Troon FHS advise that the original papers can be viewed at Ayrshire Archives. The 1821 Census for St Quivox Parish has also been transcribed and is available in booklet form.
